Leesburg Elementary Students Pilot the Bus Bike
Typically students at Leesburg Elementary School either walk to school or are dropped off by their parents. This year they’re participating in a bike bus that is operated by school faculty and follows a fixed route with planned stops allowing children to either join or leave the “bus.”
Also known as a bike train, the idea is popular across the country, but Leesburg Elementary is the first school to try it out in Loudoun. It’s the result partnerships between Principal Shawn Lacey, PTO President Cassie Coddington, the LCPS staff and Bike Loudoun volunteers. The bike bus operates once a week on Wednesdays.
